Ernie says:

From the Album Release party 11.5.2013 at the Sellersville Theatre! So proud of HogMaw and Dom Flemons and to be part of that team! It’s a great record, sounds wonderful on vinyl! I love it!

There are stories, and there are stories. This one’s a good one. Friends in the business Jay Levin, and Jim Salamone, kicked in a few loaner mics and some great advise! Pulled it off right here. Lots of it live and some of it an epic work of editing. But, a journey with the leadership of none-other than Dom Flemons, American Songster. I can only hope we do more work together! He’s like a living history book and certainly a brilliant musical mind! Hogmaw ‘s musicianship shined and the Proof is in the Ideal..

0 Album Review: HogMaw’s “WAKE” on Tri State Indie

  • October 7, 2013
  • by firewheelburnin
  • · Bands · Discography · Music News

Excerpt:

Wake has 12 tracks, of which all lyrics are written by Matt Baldwin, lead vocalist and guitarist, and all music written by Matt Baldwin, Colin Kowalewski (vocals, mandolin, banjo, and guitar), and Ryann Lynch (vocals and violin). Johnny Calamari joins HogMaw on upright bass and vocals.

This 45-minute experience begins with a “Morning” frolic—it’s airy and uplifting even though the lyrics tell a story of escape from sorrow: “I don’t feel much like cryin’. I just know that I will soon but I don’t care…” The pace picks up with “Sweet Eyes” and continues into “More of the Good Times” both with comfy, blended vocal harmonies—the latter displays intricate violin and mandolin solos that may force your hand to the replay the track.
